Partnerships in Health and Safety Program

Partnerships in Health and Safety promotes health and safety through partnerships with safety associations such as the ACSA, industry groups, educational institutions and labour organizations. A Certificate of Recognition (COR) is given to employers who develop health and safety management systems that meet established standards. The Certificate is issued by the ACSA. Achieving and maintaining a valid COR is required to earn a financial incentive through the WCB’s Partners in Injury Reduction program.  The Partnerships in Health and Safety Program is based on the premise that when employers and workers voluntarily build effective health and safety programs in their own workplaces, the human and financial costs of workplace injuries and illnesses will be reduced.  Supporting health and safety programs leads to larger reductions in injuries.

Partners in Injury Reduction

Partners in Injury Reduction (PIR) is designed to encourage injury prevention and the development of effective workplace health, safety and disability management systems. PIR is a voluntary program that operates through the combined efforts of the Workers’ Compensation Board - Alberta, Alberta Employment & Immigration, industry partners, safety associations, employers and labour groups. PIR is also a component of Alberta Employment & Immigration  “Partnerships” initiative. This initiative is based on the concept that when employers and workers build effective health and safety systems, the human and financial costs of workplace injuries and illnesses can be reduced.
